About the Event
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will take place in Doha, Qatar, bringing together 32 national teams. It will be the first edition of the men's Basketball World Cup to be hosted entirely within a single city in the region.
Doha as host city
Games will be played at four venues in Doha: Duhail Arena, Al Attiyah Arena, Al Janoub Arena and Lusail Arena. Lusail Arena will host the championship game.
A new format
The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the second round, while the remaining teams will compete in the classification round for positions 17 through 32.
92 games
The tournament will feature 92 games and will run from August 27 through September 12, 2027. The champion will also earn direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, while other teams will have access to the Olympic qualification pathway according to the competition rules.
